Anthony DePass is a national leader in the area of STEM workforce development. He is Professor of Biology, Principal of DePass Academic Consulting, and Principal Investigator and Co-Director of Understanding Interventions that Broaden Participation in Science Careers. For over 25 years, he has developed, led, consulted and evaluated programs that have provided enrichment, training, and professional development for participants from middle school through postdoctoral education levels. This work also targets diversity and inclusion in the STEM workforce. Programs under DePass’s direct leadership have generated over $20 million in external funding from federal and state agencies and private foundations including the National Institutes of Health, the American Society for Cell Biology, and the National Science Foundation.

As Principal of DePass Academic Consulting, he leads a team that works with educational institutions (from K-12 through post-doctorate levels) in the areas of research, program development and evaluation, strategic planning, grantsmanship, and professional development. Dr. DePass earned B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of Connecticut and the M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts–Amherst in Molecular and Cellular Biology. He completed his postdoctoral studies at the Yale University School of Medicine and has held adjunct positions at a number of institutions including that of Senior Lecturer at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.
